Leonard Vole, a young war veteran, stands accused of murdering Emily French, a rich elderly widow who recently redrafted her will to name him the principal heir to her estate. As his lawyers struggle to untangle the truth, the Crown prosecutor, as well as Emily’s dedicated housekeeper Janet, remain adamant that Vole ruthlessly took her life in order to inherit her wealth. Only Romaine, Vole's enigmatic wife, can prove his innocence; but when she takes the stand, it is as a witness for the prosecution, and she denies his alibi. The stakes are high as the young man fights to escape the hangman’s noose. With shocking witness testimony, impassioned outbursts, and more than a few twists and turns, this suspenseful thriller will keep you guessing until the gavel's last echo… and beyond.

Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
